ORLANDO -- Orange County detectives said the entire Sex Crimes unit is working on the case of an 11-year-old girl who was abducted and raped Thursday.
Deputies said the girl stepped off a bus on her way to school Thursday morning, near Orange Blossom Trail and Lancaster Road, when two men forced her into their car, took her to an abandoned house and raped her.
A massive search is under way for the two suspects. Detectives said they are stopping cars that match the general description of the vehicle the suspects were driving:
- Purple, 4-Door Sedan
- Possibly a Dodge Neon
Detectives are also taking DNA samples from the people inside the cars they are stopping. So far, as many as 60 vehicles have been stopped.
Sgt. Richard Mankewich told reporters Friday that this is an intricate process.
"We have to wait for a stand-in, in order to compare the two," Mankewich said. "It's just not like on TV, where you get it within an hour. It takes several days to obtain these samples."
Detectives hope the composite sketch they released of one of the suspects helps them track down the suspects.
As far as other details on the suspects, all detectives said was that the men are Hispanic.
The girl has been unable to give them enough information for a sketch of the other man.
