ORANGE COUNTY -- Orlando International Airport’s expansion plans have more than upset the members of a local community.
The airport is looking to expand approximately 1,500 acres to the southwest of its current borders.
OIA would add hangars, airport support facilities and a fuel station to better serve the airport.
However, residents of North Lake Park said the plan will ruin their community.
"We are just terrified about what it’s going to do with noise and traffic and whatever else they can bring in there," said Ken Nicholson.
An airport representative said the airport has had expansion plans in the area for decades.
A meeting to discuss the environmental impact of any new construction is scheduled for Thursday night.
