Gunman On The Run After Family’s Thanksgiving Tragedy

JUPITER -- A candlelight memorial has been placed outside the Florida home where four family members were shot to death after Thanksgiving dinner.
Authorities said 17 people were gathered at the home Thursday, when Paul Michael Merhige, 35, took out a gun and started shooting.
Family Members Killed
- Lisa Knight, 33, Merhige’s sister, who was pregnant
- Carla Merhige, 33, Lisa’s twin
- Makayla Sitton, 6, Merhige’s cousin
- Raymonde Joseph, 76, Merhige’s aunt
Neighbors and family friends said they were still trying to come to grips with the Thanksgiving tragedy.
“I just couldn’t believe it,” one family friend said. “I just started screaming, ‘Not my friends, not Lisa and Carla,’ who were just sweethearts.”
Merhige remains on the run. Investigators said they have alerted authorities in Michigan to be on the lookout for him, because he had looked for a doctor in the Detroit area in the last year.
Officials said Merhige had a history of mental problems. Family members said they have been having problems with him for years.
