ORLANDO -- Keeping awake while you’re on the road is extremely important. That’s why highway officials are offering free coffee at all service plazas along Florida’s Turnpike.
All restaurants and gas stations along the turnpike are offering the free cup of Joe from 11 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thanksgiving morning.
Coffee will also be available for folks coming home late Sunday night into Monday morning.

In addition, State Farm is handing out pamphlets featuring reminders for safe holiday travel.
Officials said 52 people died on Florida roads during Thanksgiving weekend in 2008. Of those, 24 were alcohol-related.
Starting Wednesday, the Florida Highway Patrol said all sworn state troopers will be on guard during a five-day period.
Even those on administrative duties will ditch the desk and roam the roads, watching for speeding, drunk and agressive drivers.

Drivers will also want to pay close attention to road conditions, as thick fog Wednesday morning and rain later in the day could make the roads extra slippery.
