ORLANDO -- A local law firm spent Tuesday morning giving away 1,000 Thanksgiving turkeys to needy families.
Families started arriving more than four hours early outside The Pendás Law Firm on East Colonial Drive, all in hopes of having a meal on the table this holiday.
“It means a lot to me,” said Glenn Natao, who was first to line up outside the law firm. “My family has never been without a turkey for Thanksgiving, so this will help a lot.”
Luzardo Pendás, president of the firm, said to help so many people in need was a humbling experience.
“A lot of people don’t even have enough money, quite honestly, to go and get a decent Thanksgiving dinner,” Pendás told News 13. “So months ago, when I started to see this all around me, I thought to myself, ‘God’s blessed me beyond my wildest dreams, so why not give to those few people who haven’t been blessed like I have?’”
Pendás asked for no proof of hardship, and personally greeted everyone who lined up to pick up their turkey, saying he was just glad to be able to give something back to the community.
