SOUTH DAYTONA -- A Volusia County doctor was arrested for trying to fraudulently obtain prescription drugs.
Edward Rutland is facing several charges including obtaining a controlled substance by prescription fraud.
Investigators said Rutland allegedly went to a South Daytona Walgreens to have two prescriptions filled under the name of John Cooley.
A store employee called police after discovering the same prescriptions were received at other store locations.
Once questioned by police, Rutland admitted to the crime.
Rutland is a doctor in the urology department at Halifax Health Medical Center.
