ORLANDO -- A benefit is scheduled Friday night for the family of the man who was shot and killed in the downtown Orlando shooting rampage earlier in November.

Mark’s Caribbean Cuisine, at University Boulevard and Dean Road, will host the benefit for Beckford’s family starting at 10 p.m. Friday.

The restaurant, along with the University of Central Florida Caribbean Students Organization, wanted to help Beckford’s fiancée, Daneicka Coley, and their 7-month-old daughter.

Beckford was one of six people shot inside the Gateway Center Nov. 6. He did not survive.

The suspected shooter, Jason Rodriguez, was indicted for first-degree murder.

Beckford’s funeral is planned for Saturday in his hometown of West Palm Beach.

A spokeswoman for Reynolds, Smith and Hills Inc., where Beckford worked and was killed, said the company will pay for transportation for employees and their families who wish to attend.
