OVIEDO -- It's not the typical way to raise money for an adoption. A Seminole County couple hopes to raise the thousands they need by holding a garage sale.
For 11 years Dave and Jen have lived happily ever after. But for 8 of those, they've had one dream.
"We have been a family of two along the way but we've always been waiting to be a family of three or four," said Jen W. The couple doesn't want their last name used..
Unable to have children, Dave and Jen are going to adopt.
That means needing roughly $30,000.
"There are a lot of dollar signs," she said.
So they're going to raise the money.
Here's how -- with a garage packed with items.
"There's a wine fridge in the back," Jen W. said. "There's a dryer a treadmill there's collectible items there are baby items toys all kinds of art work desks Christmas items grills."
Jen and Dave are having a yard sale this Saturday.
For the past three months every weekend Jen has been heading out to garage sales hoping to put together the perfect adoption garage sale.
"We've kind of planned everything out as if we're opening a store," she explained.
"This is the house and this is the street. I've kind of drawn out where everything should go." she said. "We've got some people that are going to be donating tables to us and some pop up canopy tents.
The sale even has it's own Web page where some higher priced items are already bringing in money.
"We've acquired numerous items had a lot of friends volunteer and donate and it's just been overwhelming the outpouring of charity that we've seen and we hope that we do well with it," said Dave W.
All kinds of baby supplies, bikes, there's an adult bike a china cabinet a vintage sewing machines. "My dad really hated parted with especially with the vintage albums but he said all right for my grandchild."
It's a whole schematic set up and marketing plan to help two people start to reach their one dream of being a family.
The garage sale gets under way at 7 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7
