DAYTONA BEACH -- A Volusia County radio station owner has been acquitted of charges he raped and fondled a teenage boy.

Doug Wilhite, who owns WELE 1380 AM, did not talk to reporters as he walked out of the courtroom Wednesday.

The teen testified he had sex with Wilhite several times between February and May in Wilhite's Ormond Beach home where the two lived.

However, the teen admitted to both prosecutors and defense lawyers that he lied on several occasions.

Jurors took less than 30 minutes to return the verdict.

"The state put up witnesses that admitted they were liars, and had all at various points lied, and lied, and lied. And that's what happened. I mean, you can put a liar on the stand and who's going to believe them? That's what the state learned,” said Aaron Delgado, Wilhite’s lawyer.

Meanwhile, Wilhite's troubles are not over.

Two teenage girls have also filed charges against him.

The teens also testified during this week's trial.
