OCOEE -- Police said a man trying to hold up a convenience store Monday night was shot and killed by a customer.
According to police, a customer walked in on Freddie Carson, 40, trying to rob a female clerk at the Kangaroo Express store on Franklin Street.
That was when Chris Riccitelli said he ran back to his car to grab a gun, and shot the robber.
"She has a knot in the back of her head. She was being hit with a beer bottle," Riccitelli said. "She was being attacked, and I thought the gentleman had a gun. So I fired two shots."
"This teaches people right now that want to go out and rob stores: You never know who's going to be in the parking lot," Riccitelli said. "So people who want to go out and rob, and do things stupid like this, they might want to think about the consequences that somebody else may bring to them."
Riccitelli has not been charged in the shooting.
Police are trying to figure out if Riccitelli's .40-caliber Smith & Wesson was legally obtained.
Riccitelli called News 13 Tuesday night and said Riccitelli owns three guns.
