01/03/09 - Burned body found in overturned car in Lake Wales, Polk Co. (1)

LAKE WALES -- Polk County deputies investigating a fiery crash Saturday morning found the burned body of an adult inside the vehicle.

A Lake Wales police officer found the car fully engulfed in flames around 4:15 a.m. Saturday on U.S. Route 27 Alternate, just south of Egg Farm Road.

The body of Quentin Jermle Anderson, 26, of Winter Haven, was found inside his sister's Chevrolet Monte Carlo, after the fire was extinguished.

The car and the body were burned so badly, deputies were not been able to quickly identify either.

Investigators said they believe the car left the road, hit a tree, overturned and caught fire.

Police said Anderson had permission to drive his sister's car.

Investigators are also trying to determine why the car left the roadway.
