PALM COAST -- More than 140 Chinese students in Flagler County are trapped inside an apartment complex -- the victims of a flight school forced to shut down and leaving the fate of the students up in the air.
Those students tell News 13 they are sponsored by several Chinese airlines to learn to fly commercial jets.
The CAPT program, which is short for Commercial Airline Pilot Training, was paid several thousand dollars per student to train, house and provide a food allowance.
Now their apartment rent money is due, they're not being trained and they're not getting any food money.
"We have paid for them 95 percent (of) our training fee, but I don't know where the money go," said Ricky Liu, a student.
Each student has been in the U.S. for more than a year and owns a cadet manual that says they cannot own or rent a car, motorcycle or scooter.
They are also prohibited from owning or riding a bicycle.
Their visa status also prohibits them from looking for work.
News 13 has reached out to the school's executive director several times, who has not returned our calls.
