George Anthony Placed On Suicide Watch
Sunday, January 25, 2009 7:00:58 AM
DAYTONA BEACH -- The father of Casey Anthony remains hospitalized Saturday after a suicide scare.
George Anthony was reported missing Thursday evening after failing to show up for a meeting with his attorney and his wife.
Family members said Anthony left his Orlando home around 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning for a job interview, taking with him two weeks' supply of blood pressure medicine, sleeping pills and a picture of his slain 2-year-old granddaughter, Caylee, and wife, Cindy.
Anthony had apparently sent family members text messages saying he did not want to live, and threatening to harm himself.
He was tracked down Friday morning at a motel in Daytona Beach after police used data from Anthony's cell phone to find him.
Investigators also found a partially written suicide note.
Anthony was taken to Halifax Medical Center, where he continues to undergo a mental evaluation under the Baker Act.
Under the act, Anthony could be hospitalized for up to 72 hours.

New Evidence: Caylee's Mouth Was Duct-Taped
George Anthony's suicide scare came just days after investigators and prosecutors released new and disturbing evidence in how Caylee Anthony's remains were found.
Documents released Wednesday revealed a heart-shaped sticker was found on a strip of duct tape used to cover the 2-year-old's mouth.
Deputies also released what they were looking for in their last search of the Anthony home, including Caylee's clothes, Casey's shoes and other evidence that could tie the home to what they found at the crime scene.
