CLERMONT -- A new advertising blitz, which local businesses hope will keep shopping dollars in South Lake County, is about to hit the airwaves.
It's called "It Pays To Shop South Lake," and the first ads are scheduled to start airing on various channels Jan. 8.
Several local businesses have bought dozens of ad spots. They said they are tired of seeing dollars go elsewhere.
"Sometimes it kind of torques you a little bit to see somebody else, all the cars in front of the big box chains or even in Orlando or somewhere else," said Amanda Walsh from Cheeser’s Palace.
Most of the businesses that are buying ads this go around are doing 10 a month for the next year. Along with TV ads, the “It Pays To Shop South Lake” program is also creating banners and postcards to help get the word out.
