WEST MELBOURNE -- A missing person’s case from Palm Bay has been solved.
The body of Frances Sentner, 85, was found Tuesday afternoon in a wooded area off Dike Road.
Sentner’s car was about 400 yards away, bogged down in the remote location.
Investigators believe she got disoriented as she headed to pick up Meals on Wheels in Melbourne Dec. 30, and somehow drove down the dirt road.
She may have wandered away from the stuck car looking fo r help.
Investigators said her clothes, the car and the empty Meals on Wheels coolers found in the trunk confirm it's Sentner's body.
“We all have loved ones and we all look out for them. Our heart go out to the family tonight. This just looks like a very unfortunate situation where she got disoriented, got lost and was in an area where nobody could help her. She couldn't get to help, and it's just very sad,” said Maj. Greg Purden from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
Palm Bay investigators were on scene earlier and have notified the family.
The discovery happened after shots were reported in the area.
Police found four people illegally skeet shooting and then stumbled upon the body when the sheriff's office Star Unit spotted the car from the air.
Prior to the discovery, Sentner's family had already planned a service for Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Babcock Street in Palm Bay.
