ORLANDO -- An Orange County deputy shot a dog he said charged at him while arresting a man on an outstanding warrant Saturday.
Deputies said they went to a home on Sunshine Street to arrest Robert Bruns, 36, on an outstanding warrant for carrying a concealed firearm.
When Bruns' roommate opened the door, deputies said a mixed pit bull ran out, charging Deputy Dal Newland.
Newland said he tried to protect himself and shot the dog.
The pit bull suffered a minor wound.
Bruns was arrested and transported to the Orange County Jail.
