BREVARD COUNTY -- After days of pleas from anxious homeowners, Brevard County has done an about face when it comes to handing out sandbags.
The county commission changed a 9-year-old no sandbag policy Thursday after many people left flooded out by Fay complained their homes were being flooded as the waters rose, especially with the threat of more storms.
Hundreds poured into five sites around the county to receive 10 sandbags per person.
- Fay Lake Park in Port St. John
- KSC Badging Station in Merritt Island
- Brevard Community College in Cocoa
- Park & Ride at Eau Gallie Boulevard and Interstate 95
- Howard Futch Memorial Park in Melbourne
Please note there is a limit of 10 sandbags per household.
