NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 23-year veteran with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and his wife were found dead in their New Smyrna Beach home Monday.
Now investigators are trying to figure out exactly what happened.
Police confirmed Steven Brady, 58, and his wife, Pamela, were found inside their home on Cedar Avenue.
They went to the home to do a well-being check and found the bodies.
Steven was a regional legal counsel with the FDLE.
Our partners at the Daytona Beach News-Journal report Steven was placed on leave in August after a man claimed Steven assaulted him after he confronted Steven for having "sexual relations" with his wife.
The FDLE released a statement Monday night saying: "Steve was both well-known and widely-regarded, and was a friend to many within the law enforcement profession. He touched all he knew with his sense of humor. His FDLE family will miss him deeply."
Pamela was a second grade teacher at Crystal Lake Elementary School.
Grief counselors will be at the school Tuesday morning.
An autopsy is also set for Tuesday.
