JACKSONVILLE -- Jacksonville Jaguars player Richard Collier is in critical condition after being shot early Tuesday morning.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Collier and former Jags player Kenneth Pettway were outside an apartment, waiting for some women they met at a club, when a gunman shot into their car early Tuesday.
Sheriff's spokesman Ken Jefferson said Collier was shot several times, but it is not clear where he was injured. He was transported to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.
The reason behind the attack is also unclear. The sheriff's office continues to investigate.
Collier was entering his third year in the National Football League.
