ORANGE COUNTY -- Business at the University of Central Florida are concerned the high volume of parking tickets being written up may be keeping a lot of customers from coming back.
With News 13 cameras rolling, three parked cars received tickets in less than five minutes.
The owner of a new restaurant called Tailgaters said when he signed his lease more than a year ago, his landlords told him parking for customers would not be a problem.
However, it's problems with parking that customers said could stop them from coming back.
"It is confusing. And I can go to other establishments, not on campus, and not have to pay to park, and not have to deal with the hassle," said Dawn Towle, who received a parking ticket.
A spokesman for the university said parking tickets can be appealed through UCF Parking Services.
He also said metered parking in that part of campus is free every day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
However, people News 13 talked to complained that nowhere near the meters does it indicate meters are ever free.
Meanwhile, UCF said the public is welcome to park in its garages, which usually charge $1 an hour.
