ORLANDO -- Some students in Orange County are boarding school buses at very different times this year.
News 13's Evrod Cassimy went to a bus depot Monday morning to ride along with students.
The school board is hoping the change in school start times will save money because it allows them to eliminate some bus routes.
Middle school students now start at 7:30 a.m. and high school students are starting at 9:30 a.m.
The school board said it is trying to make up for an $80 million shortfall in the budget. Cutting the bus routes, according to the board, would save the county $5 million.
Many parents and students, however, have been very vocal in their protests against the new school start times. A group of four unidentified parents filed a lawsuit to stop the swap, but an emergency injunction was denied by a judge on Aug. 13.
