LAKE BUENA VISTA -- A Disney security officer was fired July 7 for bringing a gun to work.
A spokesperson said Edwin Sotomayor was let go for violating company policy and failing to cooperate with an investigation.
On July 1, a new state law took effect, allowing Floridians to take their guns to work, as long as they stay locked in their cars.
However, Disney said the rule doesn't apply to its entire property because the park has a permit for fireworks.
Sotomayor protested the decision, and refused to allow his car to be searched when he got to work July 4.
He was suspended, but Disney made the decision to terminate him.
