LAKE BUENA VISTA -- A Disney worker said he was suspended from his job for violating what Disney said is an exemption to a new rule on guns in cars.
On Tuesday, July 1 a new law took effect allowing Floridians to take their guns to work, as long as they stay locked up in cars.
However, Disney quickly announced the rule doesn't apply to its entire property because the park has a permit for fireworks.
Security officer Edwin Sotomayor protested the decision and refused to allow his car to be searched when he arrived at work Friday, July 4.
He said he's willing to be fired to protect his rights.
In a statement Disney told us, “We continue to maintain our zero tolerance policy for guns and workplace violence. Safety of our cast and guest is our top priority, and we do not want that compromised."
