ORLANDO -- Lou Pearlman reportedly heard a fellow inmate brag about killing a cop.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Pearlman overheard inmate Davin Smith recounting the murder of Orlando police officer Al Gordon, Sr.
Over several weeks, the former boy band mogul apparently started taking notes and drawing diagrams based on what he overheard.
Gordon was at a Pine Hills Automated Teller Machine when he was shot and killed while off duty last October.
Smith's first degree murder trial is set to start in November.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Pearlman told Orange County sheriff's detectives he overheard Smith talking to another inmate about being a celebrity like OJ Simpson and needing a celebrity attorney.
Pearlman was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison for fraud and conspiracy. He is now serving time in a federal prison in Atlanta. Pearlman is hoping for a sentence reduction after turning over his notes to authorities.
