Three people are confirmed dead following a shooting at Palms Apartments in Orlando.

ORLANDO -- Orlando police are trying to figure out what led to a shooting that ended with three people dead.

It all began Wednesday after police got a call about shots fired at the Palms Apartments on Mercy Drive.

Investigators said they arrived and found three people dead.

They said while investigating, they also had to deal with a large crowd that had gathered at the scene.

“A lot of people. There were some crowd issues. You know emotions run high. Especially family, people that know people. So we had to control, you know, that part of the incident. We have to protect our scene,” said Sgt. Barbara Jones from the Orlando Police Department.

Witnesses to the incident said it was simply crazy at the complex following the gunfire.

"I just heard gunshots and I got my kids and I ducked,” said a witness. “I ran on the floor, got my kids, but I don't know who was shooting. I just grabbed my kids and got on the ground."

Police said there have been no arrests and no word on any possible suspects in the case at this point.

The names of the victims have also not yet been released.
