Suspected Bike Thief Takes A Beating

DELAND -- A man trying to steal a bicycle in DeLand messed with the wrong people.
Police said Christopher Roebuck tried to grab the bike around midnight outside Devin Padgett's apartment.
Padgett confronted him and took Roebuck to the manager's office. That's where a scuffle started. Roebuck allegedly bit Padgett and the manager before pulling a knife.
Police said the manager then slammed Roebuck's head on the concrete. He was taken to the hospital with a broken finger and several cuts. Roebuck is facing assault, battery and theft charges.
