WEST MELBOURNE --  Melbourne police say no suspects were found inside an Office Depot where a robbery took place and employees had been locked in an office.

Melbourne police said around 6:30 a.m., the Office Depot at 1131 West New Haven Ave. was robbed by at least two men and the employees were locked in an office. It was not immediately clear if the employees were being held hostage, so a SWAT team was brought in to assess the situation.

Police said one man had a handgun and the other suspect had a knife. The SWAT team was able to storm the store and extract three of the employees around 8:50 a.m.

One of the released employees was taken by ambulance to a hospital. Before the SWAT team arrived, police were in contact with one of the employees who said that somebody had been pistolwhipped and also may have been cut with a knife. The injuries were reported to be non-lifethreatening.

The released employees were taken to a nearby bank to be checked out.
