WEST PALM BEACH -- A 4-year-old boy is dead after being left in a hot car on his mother’s wedding day.

Investigators said Mirlande Baptiste, 29, went to a nail salon and left Gregory Cesar in the car by mistake.

Investigators think Baptiste may not have realized the child was inside because she had dropped off other children at a relative’s house before going there.

Rescue crews tried to revive the boy when he was found, but it was too late.

"When she arrived at the hospital, perhaps she though the boy was going to live or survive,” said Sgt. Pete Palenzuela from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. “When she discovered the boy had passed, she went into an emotional breakdown.”

There is no word yet on whether Baptiste will face charges.

It is against the law to leave a child in a hot car in Florida.
