ORLANDO -- An assault rifle owned by the Florida Highway Patrol is now on the streets after being stolen from the car of an off-duty trooper.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the weapon was stolen last week from the trooper's marked vehicle on a residential street in Orange County.
Sgt. Jeffrey Wright said he thought he locked the car but did not double check it.
The other items stolen include: the AR-15 assault rifle, body armor, a SWAT uniform, gas mask and more than $4,000 worth of speed detection equipment.
