COCOA BEACH -- A man is dead after drowning at a Brevard County beach.

It happened Saturday afternoon in front of the 600 block of North Atlantic Avenue.

Lifeguards said when they got to the area, they found three swimmers struggling in what they believed was a rip current.

Lifeguards were able to rescue two of the swimmers, including a female child.

The third swimmer, a man in his 40s, was rushed to Cape Canaveral Hospital, but later died.

The names of the victims have not been released.
