LAKE MARY -- A controversial political pin made by a Central Florida man is now generating nationwide controversy.

Jonathan Alcox of Lake Mary made a pin saying “If Obama is President, will we still call it The White House?” to sell at a Republican convention in Texas.

However, many said the message is downright racist.

Alcox said he's now getting death threats, and his Web site, RepublicanMarket.com, is inundated with e-mails.

He said he regrets making the pin at all.

Many said an apology is not enough.

"We really need to look at what the problems are, and I think it's petty that we're focusing so much on race, the color of someone's skin,” said Carmen Gill. “That's the sad part about it."

Alcox said he got the idea for the Obama button from a political cartoon.
