ORANGE COUNTY -- Twenty-five people are off the streets because of a multi-agency drug sweep.

Law enforcement from Apopka, Winter Park and Orange County, banded together to make the arrests Wednesday.

The investigations began in February, and targeted street level drug dealers that sold crack cocaine and marijuana.

The campaign targeted South Apopka.

Police said although the city doesn't have a massive drug problem, they felt the campaign was necessary to keep things from getting worse.

“There are those individuals who feel that they do not have to obey the law, and they have the right to poison and pollute the streets with narcotics,” said Officer Steve Popp from the Apopka Police Department. “Anytime that you can take this many drug dealers off the streets in one single day, we feel like it's been overwhelmingly successful.”

More drug-related arrests are expected.
