MELBOURNE -- A Brevard County neighborhood was on edge as a raging fire burns close to homes.
The fire burned in a heavily wooded area in the Briarwood subdivision.
Fire crews said the fire burned four acres and blew heavy smoke into the nearby Lakewood Village Trailer Park.
Fire officials said the wind kept the fire away from homes. However, many neighbors were too close for comfort.
"I'm scared,” said Rita Robinson, a homeowner. “I hope the firemen are doing their job. I've been back here 18 years at this about the fourth fire I've seen. It always happens in the summertime. I'm scared, I'm praying and I'm scared."
Crews will monitor the area throughout the evening to make sure the fire doesn't flare up.
