ORANGE COUNTY -- A man and woman nicknamed "Bonnie and Clyde" by sheriff's deputies were taken into custody after a wild ride in Orange County Thursday.
Deputies said Andrew Gaskell and Erika Hein were wanted all over Central Florida for stealing cars from dealerships.
After deputies said they went on a mini crime spree Thursday, the pair were arrested after the sheriff's office helicopter followed them until they stopped near Goldenrod Road and Pershing Avenue.
Gaskell had to be tasered by deputies after he tried to run from the scene.
Investigators said cars weren't the only thing they stole.
"The male would pick up a case of beer, take it to the counter and say 'I’m going to buy 10 of these,' then run out the door with the beer. That was one of the things they did. Apparently they're also chain smokers so the male would again go in 'hey give me eight, 10 packets, cartons of cigarettes.' The clerk would put them on the counter. He'd grab them and run," said Det. J.C. Rodriguez from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office
Deputies said the two have a drug problem and committed the crimes to get money for their habit.
