KISSIMMEE -- Police are looking for bold bandits who made off with thousands of dollars in stolen gas.
Police said two men tampered with a pump at the Citgo on Michigan Avenue and then stole over 554 gallons of gas.
Investigators said the pair sold the pilfered gas, valued at about $2,000, to customers in the parking lot.
Police said its other customers that could end up paying.
“Well, it’s outrageous. I mean, the prices are going up high already, and when people steal from it, obviously it’s going to make the gas prices go up even higher, to make up for that cost,” said Det. Ben Shroyer from the Kissimmee Police Department.
The incident apparently lasted for about four hours before anyone noticed.
The owner of the station said he’s sick and tired of being targeted. He put locks on the pumps and other anti-tampering devices.
Anyone with information is asked to call Kissimmee Police.
