Doctor Posing As Cop Cooperates With Serial Killer Investigation
Saturday, May 03, 2008 6:26:58 PM
DAYTONA BEACH -- Police continued looking for fresh leads in the unsolved murders of four women after an Ormond Beach doctor who had a prostitute, handcuffs and weapons in his car was arrested Monday.
The Daytona Beach News Journal reported Jerrold Ecklind, 37, voluntarily gave police a DNA sample to compare with samples in the serial murders. The DNA results were not complete as of Saturday.
Ecklind's home was also searched for a handgun of the same type used in three of the four killings, but none was found.
Investigators would not discuss Ecklind's case, saying only that he has cooperated with police.
Ecklind was arrested after he pretended to be a police officer, and tried to break up an argument in a church parking lot with a gun. See previous story.
