APOPKA -- An Orange County man who is accused of having sex with a 12-year-old girl he allegedly met on the Internet, met the judge on Wednesday, instead.
Police said Luis Quinones, 28, met the girl online through MySpace.com.
After being arrested Tuesday at his house, Quinones admitted to meeting the girl at least eight times over the past two weeks, and that the two had sex each time.
Quinones explained to officers the girl told him she was 19, and that the sex was consensual.
The girl, a middle school student, also told police that she claimed to be 19 years old, but she also said they had sex 20 times over three to four weeks and she skipped school to be with him.
Quinones is being charged with lewd and lascivious battery. The judge set bond on two of those counts at a total of $15,000 with house confinement. He was appointed a public defender and ordered to have no contact with the girl in the case, her family or anyone under the age of 18.
