ORLANDO -- More than 100 students took a chance on suspension by walking out of class.
One hundred and fifty students walked out of class at Apopka and Wekiva high schools Friday.
The students opposed the latest changes by the Orange County School Board, which flips the class start times for high schoolers and middle school students.
The new schedule has high school students in session from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wekiva High School plans to take disciplinary action against many of the students, including suspension of at least 30.
“I respect and encourage their right to express their opinions. However there’s a right way and a wrong way," said Elise Gruber, Wekiva’s principal.
Some parents said they encouraged the walk out protest to hopefully make an impression before Tuesday’s school board meeting.
