ORLANDO -- With gas prices so high, we are all on the hunt cheaper prices, but how about free gas? That's exactly what happened to 100 lucky people Thursday.
People started lining up as early as 3 a.m. at a downtown Orlando 7-Eleven for a chance at some relief at the pump in a promotion by SoSocial.com and Downtown Mini Cooper.
But no matter what time they pulled up, all 100 drivers who had printed out an online voucher got 10 gallons of free fuel.
With prices currently hovering around $3.75 in Orlando and $3.80 in other parts of Central Florida, to say motorists were a little excited about paying $0 is an understatement.
"It's the bomb baby. I'm glad I am here. I am glad I work here. Hey, free gas. You can't beat that with a bat. I'm excited about this, wooey," said Jocelyn.
Event organizers said they gave away $4,000 worth of gas as an early holiday present.
"We just thought, with the Memorial weekend, and with the things that are going on in the economy, this would be a great way to help the citizens here in Orlando," said Scott Bender.
"This will put extra food on the table," said William Caster, who got his free gas.
If you missed it, organizers say they have plans to do something like this again, but probably not until gas reaches at least $4.09 a gallon.
