PALM BAY -- Police are searching for a suspect in an attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl who was walking to school Tuesday morning.
At approximately 8:35 a.m., the girl was walking on Entrada Street and turned onto Eldron Street, headed to Southwest Middle School.
The girl told police she was approached by a man in a dark, burgundy-colored 4-door vehicle with tinted windows.
According to police, the man got out of the vehicle to approach the girl and she ran away toward her home.
The suspect then got back in the car and began to follow the girl before he left the area.
An adult witness saw the vehicle and approached the girl to check to see if she was OK. Neither the girl, nor the witness was able to get a tag number on the vehicle.
The suspect is described as African-American, 5 foot 9 inches tall and in his late 20s. He had tight braids to the neckline and wore a white shirt and black basketball-style shorts.
