SANFORD -- The man convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend and a friend in Oviedo on Sept. 24, 2007 will not be present at his sentencing, and a jury will not decide his fate.
Andrew Allred waived his right to a jury trial, and asked not to be present when the judge handling the case decides his fate.
Allred pleaded guilty on April 30 for the murders of Tiffany Barwick and Michael Ruschak.
Although Barwick expressed her concerns about Allred to a Seminole County Sheriff's deputy the day she died, the law prevented authorities from making an arrest.
Gov. Charlie Crist is expected to sign a bill that would broaden state law to afford victims of dating violence the same protections as those of domestic violence.
