COCOA -- A Cocoa woman arrested for allegedly trying to start a fire at her apartment complex said she did it because "she was bored."
Margaret Kaderabek, 57, remains in the Brevard County Jail. She faces two counts of intentional burning of land.
Police said Kaderabek admitted to setting the small fires. She said she got the idea from watching stories about the brush fires on the news. Neighbors spotted her in the act and called police, according to authorities.
"You know, just a very nice lady, and I was just kinda shocked that it was her that was starting the fires around here," said Cici Long, one of Kaderabek's neighbors.
"We just want everyone to know we're going to send a message out that this is not going to be acceptable at all," said Det. Matt Turner, of the Cocoa Police Department.
Investigators said they do not believe Kaderabek had anything to do with the massive fires set in Brevard County over the weekend.
