TARPON SPRINGS -- The woman infamously known as the "DC Madam” reportedly committed suicide in Tarpon Springs Thursday.
Police confirmed they found the body of Deborah Jeane Palfrey, 52, hanging in a shed at her mother's home.
Palfrey was convicted April 15 by a federal jury of running a prostitution service that catered to members of Washington's political elite.
Investigators said she left more than one suicide note behind, but police aren't saying what they said.
"I don't have any information about where they were located. But it was two notes, possibly some more notes and a book," said Capt. Jeff Young from the Tarpon Springs Police Department.
Palfrey denied her escort service engaged in prostitution, saying that if any of the women engaged in sex acts for money, they did so without her knowledge.
She had been out on bail awaiting sentencing.
