DAYTONA BEACH -- A city worker found himself in the hot seat after being caught using a city vehicle to go fishing.
Larry Toby traveled several miles beyond the city limits, to a popular fishing spot near the jetty in New Smyrna Beach, to cast his fishing line.
Toby told News 13 he informed his supervisor, and that the supervisor was OK with his fishing expedition.
"I told my supervisor I was going fishing. I'm on call," Toby said. "I don't have a personal vehicle. It's back in Daytona, where I work."
A spokesperson with the city of Daytona Beach told News 13 meter workers were permitted to have a take-home car in case there was an emergency call. Personal use, such as fishing, was prohibited.
The city was reviewing the case, and said that if any wrongdoing was found, Toby could face a written reprimand or suspension.
