ORANGE COUNTY -- Campus safety experts from across the country met in Central Florida to try and find ways to curb the disturbing trend of school violence.
They said local administrators might need to be concerned by a string of violent incidents in Central Florida schools.
The panel addressed the National School Board Association's conference at the Orange County Convention Center.
They said there needs to be more of a focus on administrators, teachers, and students sharing information.
This month Central Florida's seen several incidents, including students charged for a "Columbine-style" shooting plot.
"I would hope that those schools have a threat assessment team. Those schools are now looking at those specific fact situations to see if we have some behaviors there that should give us greater concerns," said Thomas Heffelfinger, a U.S. attorney.
It's not just kindergarten through 12th grade that's affected. State universities are asking for $18 million to expand security measures.
The panelists said that money should only be given if a substantial part of includes money for implementing training and other programs for spotting trouble.
