Additional Information

SORRENTO -- The Lake County Sheriff's Office said it's increasing patrols in the area where a deputy was attacked.

Deputy Cliff McMennamy, 27, was jumped by several men in Sorrento March 22 while he was responding to a noise complaint.

Sheriff Gary Borders said he plans to maintain a high visibility in the area, and hope they can find witnesses who will help deputies identify more of the suspects.

So far, only one suspect, Miguel Gomez, has been arrested in connection with the attack.

Detectives have located several illegal immigrants during their investigation and said 20 of them have been detained for deportation.

Investigators believe that some of the suspects are in the country illegally, and will be hard to identify and locate.
