Federal officials call it the largest beef recall in the nation's history.
Westland/Hallmark Meat Company, a California slaughterhouse, agreed Sunday to pull 143 million pounds of raw and frozen meat from the market.
Two fast food chains and about 150 school districts around the nation have already stopped using beef from the company. Some school districts in Central Florida, including Orange and Lake counties, had already stopped serving beef ahead of the recall.
This is a Class II recall, meaning that there is a remote probability of causing any adverse illness.
The recall dates back two years and the USDA said the majority of the meat has probably already been eaten. But the agency said it doesn't believe the food presents a significant health risk.

The recall comes after the Humane Society released undercover video that it said shows workers at Westland-Hallmark dragging animals to slaughter that were unable to walk, which is against federal regulations.

The president of Westland/Hallmark said it is cooperating with the USDA's investigation and has implemented measures to ensure all workers follow humane handling policies and procedures.
