A Melbourne man hits a high note right and launches into the Top 24 on "American Idol."
Robbie Carrico, 26, from Melbourne was named one of 24 semifinalists Wednesday night on the popular singing show.
Carrico and his band Missing Picket are well known on the local music scene and have played on the Metro Entertainment Complex stage for the past two years.
The club owners are rooting for the hometown rocker.
"It puts Brevard back on the music scene and it will let everybody else in America know there's a few things to pay attention to down here, it's not just all margaritas and sand," said Joe Hale, the club's owner.
"Florida is back and Melbourne! Go Robbie! I'm so excited," said Wendy Hale, another owner of the Metro Entertainment Complex.
Carrico is a graduate of Titusville High School and the Crenshaw Arts School in Orlando.
Another Idol Watch party is scheduled for next Tuesday at Metro Entertainment in West Melbourne.
