Exxon Mobil Corp. posted the biggest annual and quarterly profits by a U.S. Company ever Friday -- at $40.6 billion, breaking its own profit records.
The previous record for annual profit was $39.5 billion, which ExxonMobil reported for 2006.
This came just a day after Shell posted record profits for a British company -- at $27.5 billion.
The average gas price per gallon for regular unleaded fuel in Florida was $3.05 as of Friday. Exactly one year ago, that same fuel was $2.19 per gallon.
Some analysts said for every $1 increase in the price of oil, ExxonMobil makes another $500 million a year.
