BLUE SPRING STATE PARK -- Combine mild temperatures and the holiday break and you've got a recipe for packed state parks.

That is just what's happening at Blue Spring State Park near Orange City in Volusia County, but they are missing out on the featured attraction.

Hundreds of people lined the water, searching for manatees, which spend the winter in the 72-degree waters of the spring. But the nice weather means the sea cows are staying away.

Yet people still enjoy the quest, even though they may miss out on the reward of seeing a manatee in the wild.

The 24th Annual Manatee Festival is Jan. 24 and 25 in Orange City.
